Mission's newest thrift store has been working with non-profit organizations since 1954.
Value Village, located at 7178 Horne Street, is partnering with Clothesline to support the Canadian Diabetes Association. The thrift store will pay the organization for every item donated.
"We're very excited to open our first store in Mission," said store manager Teresa Fillion. "The support we're able to provide the local community makes us proud, and we can't wait to welcome both new and familiar customers and introduce them to all our great deals offered throughout our aisles."
Value Village is a privately held global thrift retailer offering clothing and accessories, and household goods. It has had an exclusive partnership with Clothesline since 1985 and has raised $10 million annually with 100 per cent directly benefitting the CDA. Money raised from Clothesline helps the CDA make a difference in the lives of people with diabetes by providing education, programs, services, and funding for research.
There are more than 100,000 items on the sales floor every day and there are 10,000 more gently used items to ensure customers are provided with a refreshed assortment of goods.
While the new Mission store offers strong support for the local community, the network of Value Village stores across North America encourages a more sustainable environment overall. By coupling the sale of gently used, quality items with the responsible recycling of items that cannot be sold, Value Village and its partners keep more than 650 million pounds of reusable good out of landfills.
