The Reclaiming Youth First Annual Traditional Powwow took place in Mission over the holiday weekend.

According to the group’s Facebook page, the event took place at 34110 Lougheed Hwy. – St. Mary’s Residential School – close to Fraser River Heritage Park.

The website also says that on July 1-3 “a self-governed group of youth with prominent experiences in homelessness, substance use, the foster system, and other forms of intergenerational trauma are coming together to host their first powwow.”

Originally planned as a two-day event (July 1-2), organizers decided to extend it for a third day.
