PROFILE: Bobby Brar, councillor

Bobby Brar is a community volunteer and activist, and has lived in Mission since 1991.

Mission has been my home since 1991. I live here with my wife, two boys, and my parents.

One morning in May 2005 my life turned around when I was in a serious accident on Hwy 3 with my family. Luckily we all survived, but I became a quadriplegic. My physical disability has never prevented me from serving others. In 2008, District Of Mission selected me for “Against the Odds” award.

I volunteer with the Mission Association for Community Living, Mission Community Services, Operation Red Nose, and I was a founding member of Mission Citizens Association.

I would freeze property taxes for the next three years, bring in more tourism-based business. And due to the existing and increasing baby boomer population, we have to make sure any future development is universally accessible.
