PROFILE: Randy Cairns, trustee

Randy Cairns is a strong advocate of public education, and currently an incumbent trustee.

I moved to Mission in 1975 from New Westminster with my wife, Carmen.

We have three children who graduated in Mission public schools. I have experience in labour relations and harassment policy facilitation in my position of vice-president TWU Local 50 representing 1,500 clerical workers at Telus.

I have been a strong advocate of quality public education which I believe is the most important role of an elected trustee. During my last terms we have had to make difficult decisions on closing schools and after extensive public consultation made those hard choices.

I will work for parents and students to improve education in hard economic times as well as continue to build relationships built on trust and respect with all our employee groups.

With your support I will be a strong advocate for the best education in Mission Public Schools as I have in the past.
