Randy Houser was announced as the replacement act for Rascal Flatts Saturday night at the Rockin' River Music Festival in Mission.

“Houser’s blue-collar, salt-of-the-earth country makes him a modern-day Merle Haggerd. His songs are very popular,” said Rockin’ River president Kenny Hess.

Houser’s last three singles have been consecutive number-one hits – How Country Feels, Running Out of Moonlight and Goodnight Kiss.

Houser’s past includes many achievements like multiple ACM and CMA award nominations, a number-two single in Boots On, and songwriting credits with Trace Adkins, Justin Moore and Chris Young. In 2008 Houser released his debut single Anything Goes and his first full-length album of the same name later that year. In 2010 his album Whistlin’ Dixie spawned hits Whistlin’ Dixie and fan favourite A Man Like Me.

After Rascal Flatts canceled the remaining three shows of the group’s tour — including Rockin’ River Music Festival — when lead singer Gary LeVox lost his voice, Houser was quickly signed to fill the spot.

“Rockin’ River ticket holders will enjoy seeing Houser close out the festival,” Hess says. “This turns the Rascal Flatts disappointment into a positive for Rockin’ River Music Festival. He’s a fantastic live act, with great hard-drivin’ country music. I can’t wait to see his rockin’ performance Saturday on our main stage.”

Rockin’ River runs Aug. 7-9 at Mission Raceway Park (32670 Dyke Rd.), and also features Terri Clark, Gord Bamford, The Road Hammers, Hey Romeo, Julian Austin and many more.
