UPDATE: Police believe fatal Abbotsford crash took place overnight

Woman killed after cars flips into ditch off of Straiton Road

A woman is dead after a car accident on Straiton Road in Abbotsford last night.

A red Volkswagen Golf was traveling east when it appears to have left the roadway, gone down an embankment and flipped upside down in a creek, police say.

The single female occupant was pronounced dead at the scene.

The accident was reported around 7:41 Thursday morning, but police believe the crash took place overnight.

Straiton remains closed as police investigate.
