The westbound left lane on Highway 7, approximately 750 metres west of Allen Way, is be closed due to a sinkhole.

The Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure has filled the giant pothole that closed the westbound fast lane on Lougheed Highway on Thursday.

The lane was closed about 750 metres west of Allen Way because of a culvert failure which carved out a hole in the road bed. But crews fixed it Thursday night, reopening in time for Friday’s commute.

The westbound fast lane of Lougheed Highway in Pitt Meadows remains closed due to a sinkhole.

The Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure first issued a traffic advisory Wednesday evening.

According to the ministry, the westbound lane, approximately 750 metres west of Allen Way, continues to be closed due to a culvert failure under the highway.

“As a temporary solution, crews are working to fill the hole and will repave the lane in time for Friday morning’s commute,” the ministry adds.

Drivers are encouraged to use alternative routes until the reopening can be confirmed. The westbound HOV lane restriction will be reinstated once the fast lane reopens.
