A man who was wanted by the Abbotsford Police Department (APD) as a suspect in a stabbing that occurred in July is now in custody.
Matthew Joshua Brett Roy, 30, has been charged with aggravated assault and two counts of breaching his probation.
Patrol officers were called to the 1600 block of Riverside Road on July 13 and found that a 34-year-old man was suffering from stab wounds to his upper body.
He was taken to hospital with serious injuries that were not life-threatening.
Police were told that a verbal altercation had occurred between two men and that one produced a large knife, stabbed the other and ran away.
The APD then issued a press release on July 17, saying they were looking for Roy as the suspect in the incident.

He was subsequently arrested.
At the time of his most arrest, Roy was on probation after pleading guilty in November 2019 to a charge of assault causing bodily harm that occurred in August 2018 in Abbotsford. He also pleaded guilty at that time to breaching his bail conditions in July 2019.
Roy is also currently before the courts on a charge of assault with a weapon from Jan. 29, 2020.
He has other prior convictions for break-and-enter, possession of a break-in instrument, possession of stolen property, robbery, resisting a peace officer, and multiple counts of breaching his probation.
