Staff shortages have forced Heritage Park Middle to closed for two days starting today, according to a letter from Superintendent Angus Wilson.
There have been an “higher than usual” number of staff absences at the school this week, and the shortage could impact the learning and safety of students in the building, Wilson said.
He noted that he sent out a letter several months ago warning parents that these “functional closures” were a possibility.
“I know this will cause considerable challenges for some families and is not a desirable situation for any of us. I apologize for any difficulties this unexpected event places on families,” Wilson said.
Remote learning will start today (May 12) in the afternoon, and school will re-open on Monday (May 16).
Essential healthcare workers’ children, and students with complex care needs will be offered some limited supervision at school; parents can contact Principal Condon if they have more questions,Wilson said.
