A family of five have lost their home in Sunshine Valley to a fire.
The family lives there year round, and includes three children and three dogs. The fire was on the morning of Dec. 28, and within hours a neighbour had set up a GoFundMe account and was helping to organize donations of food and clothing within the small community outside of Hope.
Ryan Macneil started the GoFundMe called ‘Palfreyman support fundraiser,’ with a goal of $10,000. Within an hour the fundraiser had earned more than $5,000.
Sunshine Valley residents are also rallying to make sure the family has a place to live. Macneil is also heading around the community on his snowmobile picking up donations, and the food bank is preparing for them as well.
“They left with just the clothes on their back since it was such a rush to get out,” Macneil said. “Anything helps with this tragedy that has happened so close after the holidays.”
