Thieves ran off with about $14,000 worth of equipment from Mission Search and Rescue headquarters on June 12.
Mission RCMP say it appeared someone entered the building at 7229 Mershon St. by cutting a metal fence, then breaking a window.
MSAR volunteers arrived at the compound around 8:15 a.m. and noticed several portable radios and a charging station for the radios were missing. Later that same day at around 9:30 p.m. volunteers saw three males in black hoodies with flashlights on the property trying to break into the building again through the same broken window.
Mission Mounties are asking for the public’s help in locating the stolen items and finding possible suspects involved in this crime.
MSAR is a non-profit organization funded by the community through fundraisers and grants. Volunteers are called out throughout the year to help find missing people and rescue others.
The theft is a real blow to the operations of this service that helps us all, said Mission RCMP Cpl. Raina Siou.
