The properties involved are located at 31802 Hillcrest Ave., 31896 Raven Ave., 7233 Wren St. and 31831, 31941, 31971 Lougheed Highway.

A second public hearing will be held on a controversial proposal for a major new development along the Lougheed Highway.

A developer hopes to build a mixed-used project that would include 131 apartments along with a variety of commercial uses – including a community gaming centre – on 12 acres of land west of the highway’s Wren Street intersection.

The proposal went to a public hearing in early July, and re-appeared on council’s agenda on Monday. But because new information has been received for consideration, the proposal will need to go back for a second reading before council makes a final decision on the project.

A large crowd attended July’s hearing, with the majority of those who spoke opposing the idea, citing concerns about traffic, environmental impacts and having a casino in the area.

The new public hearing will take place Aug. 20 at 7 p.m.
