Traffic fine revenue received

The District of Mission to get almost $350,000 from B.C. government

Mission will receive nearly $350,000 from the provincial government.

Funding is coming from the traffic fine revenue sharing program – part of almost $74 million being invested into communities across B.C. to help cover costs of policing, new equipment, increased community safety initiatives, infrastructure and other priorities.

“Mission council will appreciate the flexibility associated with unconditional funding,” said Abbotsford-Mission MLA Simon Gibson.

The strategic community investment fund includes the traffic fine program, and it assists eligible municipalities that pay police enforcement costs. Funding comes from ticket fines and court-imposed fines on violation tickets.
