Traditional dancing is one of the big draws for the annual Ukrainian Cultural Festival.

The 19th annual B.C. Ukrainian Cultural Festival happens this Saturday (May 3) at Heritage Park Centre.

This is the largest Ukrainian celebration in B.C. There will be bright colours, traditional music and performances, cultural exhibits, demonstrations, and food available throughout the day. There will also be interactive activities for children. The event runs from 8 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. when the last of the dance competition wraps up inside the Clarke Theatre.

The festival was founded by Gladys Andreas, who originally brought the event to various communities around the Lower Mainland each year. The society came to Mission in 2003, and has remained here since.

Admission to the event is $8 for adults, $5 for youth (age 7-18), and $1 for children under six years.
