UPDATE: Name released of Mission victim of lumber yard accident

Mission man declared dead after lumber yard accident on Wednesday.

The BC Coroners Service has confirmed that 21-year-old Mission resident Robert Louis Ramer is dead after a lumber yard accident on Nov. 13.

Ramer was sorting logs at Everwood Industries in the Lougheed Highway and Dewdney Trunk Road area Wednesday afternoon.

He was hit by a log bundle shortly after 2 p.m. and fell in the Fraser River. Colleagues recovered him and paramedics were on scene shortly.

Ramer was transported from the scene of the accident to Abbotsford Regional Hospital but succumbed to his injuries.

The Coroners Service and WorkSafe BC continue to investigate this industrial accident. RCMP confirmed there was no indication of criminal activity.

The victim's family has been notified.
