UPDATE: Registered owner of vehicle involved in fatal hit-and-run comes forward

As owner speaks with Abbotsford detectives, police encourage witnesses to come forward

The registered owner of the vehicle that fatally struck a pedestrian on Tuesday night has come in to meet with Abbotsford Police detectives.

“This investigation is ongoing and updates will be provided when available,” said Abbotsford Police Sgt. Judy Bird.

Emergency services were alerted that a 77-year-old man walking in the 32600 block of Marshall Road had been hit by a newer-model SUV which fled the scene just after 8:30 p.m.

The man died in hospital the following morning.

Detectives continue to ask potential witnesses and anyone with CCTV or dashcam footage to come forward to help with the investigation.
