It has now been reported that a person has died as a result of an accident on the Lougheed Highway in Mission early this morning
A large section of the Lougheed Highway has been closed down after the serious motor vehicle accident that reportedly involved a vehicle and a logging truck by Hatzic Lake.
Few details have been released, but RCMP, Fraser Valley Traffic Services and emergency crews are on scene.
According to reports on the emergency scanner, a logging truck and another vehicle were involved in the accident at about 6 a.m. and the logging truck ended up in Hatzic Lake.
There are few other details at this time.
A Mission RCMP spokesperson said the highway would be closed for several hours and drivers are advised to stay clear of the area.
According to the DriveBC website, the highway is closed in both directions at Hatzic Bridge, just west of Eagle Road. The road is also blocked at Shook Street as well as Sylvester Road. It is not expected to open until 3 p.m. today.
