A masked man held up Mission’s Value Village at knifepoint yesterday afternoon (Aug. 12) and was able to avoid capture by the police.

Police were called to the store at approximately 12:30 p.m., deployed their K-9 units but were unsuccessful in catching the suspect, according to Cpl. Nathan Berze, media relations officer with the Mission RCMP detachment.

“Employees there reported that a male suspect had come into the store wearing a mask and holding a knife,” Berze said. “The suspect ordered the employee to open the till and give him cash.”

The suspect was last seen headed towards Chances Casino wearing a mask and orange pants. He is described as white, 20 to 29-years old and over six feet tall.

Berze said investigators are following up on several leads, including processing DNA to identify the suspect.

Anyone with information about the robbery is encouraged to come forward and call the Mission RCMP’s non-emergency line at 604-826-7161, or email mission.victim.services@rcmp-grc.gc.ca.
