Laura Grizzlypaws (above) performs the Bear Dance at the National Aboriginal Day festival in Mission. The event featured activities and other entertainment, including several drummers (below).

Visitors to Mission’s Fraser River Heritage Park on Wednesday had the chance to enjoy a special celebration.

In honour of National Aboriginal Day, the Mission Friendship Centre Society hosted a fun day of family-oriented activities and entertainment.

After a short welcoming ceremony, executive director Wendy Jimmie gave a short talk by Caribou Running Legs, who is running across Canada (and has done so several times for different causes).

The Bear Dance performance by Laura Grizzlypaws was a crowd favourite as was a performance by the Women’s Drum Group.
