Water meter report delayed until mid-September

A staff report on water metering scheduled to come back to council Aug. 8 has been delayed until early September, according to the district's manager of environmental services.

Mike Younie said in a report to council at Monday evening's meeting that a draft memo has been produced, but it requires additional information from other jurisdictions that has been delayed by those employees being on holiday.

Council previously opted to wait for a district review of water metering before releasing a request for proposal (RFP).

Younie's report states the RFP continues to be worked on and should be completed by the time the draft memo returns to council.

Although council declined to debate water metering without the report, several councillors indicated public consultation is an ongoing priority.
