A young Mission boy is lucky not to be injured after being hit by a vehicle.

On Tuesday (Nov. 2) morning at about 8:10 a.m., two brothers, one age five and the older age 11, were walking to school and were crossing the intersection of Cedar Street and 14th Ave. in a marked crosswalk.

According to Mission RCMP, an SUV was making a left turn at the intersection and slowed just prior to striking the younger brother.

Ambulance and police responded to the 911 call and once at scene, it was quickly determined that the boy was knocked over at a relatively low speed.

The driver of the SUV remained on scene and spoke to police.

The mother of the two boys arrived and once the ambulance crews were finished tending to the boy, both were able to carry on with their day and eventually attended school.

The driver was cooperating with police and at this time, speed and alcohol were not believed to be factors.

Mission RCMP Cpl. Jason Raaflaub said he would like to take this opportunity to remind drivers and pedestrians alike, that with the darker winter mornings and evenings, to please take care to look for one another, especially at intersections.
