NOTICE OF INTENT: Floodplain Management Bylaw Update

In response to changes to the Provincial Flood Hazard Area Land Use Management Guidelines and the Fraser River Design Flood Level update, the FVRD is updating the Floodplain Management Bylaw.

In response to changes to the Provincial Flood Hazard Area Land Use Management Guidelines and the Fraser River Design Flood Level update, the FVRD is updating the Floodplain Management Bylaw. The update to the bylaw includes, but is not limited to, the following key amendments:

  • language updates consistent with the Provincial Guidelines
  • revised and expanded exemptions consistent with the Provincial Guidelines
  • increased flood construction levels in the Lower Fraser River (Laidlaw to Dewdney)
  • revised floodproofing requirements for properties adjacent to the Coquihalla River
