Pursuant to Sections 94 and 227 of the Community Charter notice is hereby given that the Council of the City of Mission proposes to adopt City of Mission Downtown Development Incentive Program Amending Bylaw 6146-2022 at its Regular Council meeting on Monday, January 9, 2023 at 6:00 pm at Municipal Hall, 8645 Stave Lake Street, Mission, BC.
This Bylaw proposes to amend Downtown Revitalization Tax Exemption Bylaw 5391-2013 by extending the program application date from December 31, 2022 to December 31, 2024 and reducing the Eligibility Threshold for renovations of existing buildings and for new construction and major redevelopment.
The Tax Exemption Bylaw establishes a revitalization tax exemption program as part of the City’s Downtown Development Incentive Program. Council’s objective in establishing the revitalization tax exemption program is to encourage the revitalization of downtown Mission through the encouragement of accelerated private investment in stand-alone or mixed commercial and residential new development and major redevelopment projects within the Mission City Downtown Action Plan area. The map of the Downtown Incentive Program area (below) is available for viewing at the Welton Common Building, 7337 Welton Street, Mission, BC.

The maximum term of the tax exemption is 10 years and applies only to municipal taxes and not school, hospital, library and other taxes normally found on the City’s tax notice. The tax exemption incentive must be applied for by December 31, 2024.
