Ada May Swanson, 89 years of age, passed on Monday, December 5, 2016 at The Residence in Mission, BC, surrounded by her family. May was born May 7, 1927 in Lacombe, Alberta to the late Lloyd and Mabel McArthur. She was one of 4 children, two preceded her in death. May married the late Walter Swanson in 1945 and 2 children were born from this beautiful union of 41 years. She spent most of her time raising her two daughters and volunteering for the Legion Ladies Auxiliary and the Mission Hospital Auxiliary. May loved to spend her time entertaining friends and family in their home, always cooking, baking and crafting. She was a dedicated mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Her love and kindness expanded past her immediate family to those around her whom she would take under her wing and who all affectionately referred to her as Nan. She wasn’t happy unless she was taking care of someone be it an ailing neighbour, befriending a new patient at the Cedars or crocheting blankets and booties for newborns in Africa. A nice bowl of Maple Walnut ice cream was also guaranteed to put a smile on her face. A brief moment of darkness was all that I knew, Before Heaven’s Gate came into my view. Loved ones and friends I had missed for many years, Welcomed me with open arms and many happy tears. All the hurt, fear and pain that I have ever known, Is gone from my life, I am finally home. I gazed upon the Lord’s sweet smiling face, And for the first time in my life I knew and felt His grace. I know that you miss me, but please dry your eyes. I will always be watching and loving you From my home in the sky. May leaves behind her children, Pat Coldwell and Sandra Rempel, 5 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends to cherish her loving memory.
