Albert Charles Turner

September 13, 1924 ~ May 14, 2017

It is with heartfelt sadness, yet gratitude for a life well-lived, that the family and friends of Albert (Bert) Turner witnessed his peaceful passing at Bevan Village on May 14th, 2017 at the age of 92. Bert was born and raised in the Ottawa Valley and at the age of 16 joined the navy during WW2. After meeting Mary (nee Wheeler) his devoted wife of 62 years, they moved their family of three children to BC, eventually settling in Abbotsford where he had a successful career as a probation officer. He was a fun loving, happy, talented, energetic and enthusiastic man that touched the hearts of everyone he met. He had a great love for music and acting and was a long time member of the Valley Musical Theatre Guild. He shared his beautiful singing voice with many choirs, his compassion as a volunteer with the Abbotsford Hospice Society and his devotion to community as a well loved school crossing guard. In recent years his strength of character and deep faith saw him through many set backs including a stroke, loss of his sight and hearing. He will be fondly remembered by his wife Mary, children; Thomas (Deborah) Turner, Margaret (Rick) Sauder, Andrew (Lisa) Turner, his grandchildren; Robbie (Robert) Madden, Kristian TerHart, Devin Turner, Micky Turner, Cole Turner, Grace Turner and great grandchildren; Jamison, Miles and Van Madden. Predeceased by granddaughter Jaime Turner. Special thanks to the caring staff at Bevan Village, support from the CNIB, Veteran's Affairs and many friends and volunteers. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, June 3rd, 3:00 pm at Trinity Memorial United Church, Abbotsford.
