Albertje (Alberta) Veenstra was born on March 17, 1930 in Groningen, Holland and passed away on October 8, 2024 at the Oxford Senior Care in Abbotsford B.C.
She was predeceased by her granddaughter Jolene in 1977, her son Raymond in 2006 and her husband Rense (Ron) in 2007.
She is survived by her children John (Darlene), Henry (Carol) Annette (Adam) and Yvonne (Mark), 14 grandchildren and 18 great grand children, many nieces and nephews.
She immigrated to Canada in 1951 while on her honeymoon and arrived by ship in Halifax. Ron and Alberta settled in Lacombe, Alberta, then Calgary and moved to the Windermere Valley where they spent 12 happy years.
As the kids got older the decision was made to move to Abbotsford. Alberta worked in the housekeeping department at the MSA Hospital and spent may years as the bookkeeper for McClary Stockyards before retiring. After Ron passed away she moved to Crowne Point on McCallum Road where she met many friends.
After her decline with Dementia she was moved to the Oxford Senior Care facility in Abbotsford where she was a resident for over 6 years before her passing on October 8th, 2024.
In lieu of flowers, remembrance can be made through contributions to Alzheimer Society of B.C.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
