1931 - 2006
Arnold (Arnie) Massey passed away peacefully on September 10, 2006 at the Christine Morrison Hospice in Mission, BC. Diagnosed with cancer in August, 2006, his courageous battle was short lived.
Born in Rochdale, England, he moved to Canada in 1957 where he was employed by the BC Government Corrections Branch for 25 years. Arnie retired in 1988 and became involved in real estate. He was an untiring worker for 14 years with St. Andrews United Church in Mission. Arnie and Lillian moved to Abbotsford six years ago. His hobby was his garden, he loved to spend his time nurturing his roses.
Arnie was a beloved and cherished husband, father, grandÂfather, and great grandfather. He will be greatly missed by his wife Lillian; children Ken (Sonia) Rockwell, Geraldine (Roy) Bailey of Prince George, David Massey in Ontario; one brother Clifford (Beryl) in England; five granddaughters; one grandson; one great granddaughter and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family, both in Canada and England.
Arnie was secretary to Abbotsford Masonic Lodge #70 AF&AM, Past President (2005), Abbotsford Shrine Club #40, Grand Trustee Grand Chapter British Columbia Order of the Eastern Star, BC and Yukon Electa #20.
Celebration of life will be held September 16, 2006 at 2:00 pm at Trinity Memorial United Church, 33737 George Ferguson Way, Abbotsford, reception to follow.
In lieu of flowers donations made to Christine Morrison Hospice at Mission Memorial Hospital, 7324 Hurd St., Mission in Arnie's memory would be greatly appreciated.
