Beatrice Margaret AMBROSE

April 22, 2006

Beatrice Margaret, of Abbotsford, passed away at The Cottage Extended Care, MSA Hospital, April 22, 2006. Born Beatrice Howland, December 18, 1925 in Lampman, Saskatchewan, ‘Bea’ was raised mainly in Moose Jaw, Sask. She worked in the TB Sanatorium in the Qu’Appelle Valley and was very familiar with hospital life as she battled severe asthma as a young person and throughout her adult life. Bea was very community minded, and a true people person. After marriage to Howard and a move to Vancouver, she eventually became involved in various community projects. Bea was on the board of Reach Community Medical Centre including a term as president. Bea worked approximately 15 years at Britannia Community Services Centre on the switchboard as well as serving on the board of directors there. She also did a great deal of volunteer work with the Grandview-Woodlands Area Council. She traveled both to Victoria and Ottawa on behalf of these various community-based organizations. There were many other issues she cared about and people and projects she involved herself with. She cared about all people, whether she agreed with them or not, and made friends wherever she found herself. She was an animal lover too, and helped her children nurse injured animals to health on occasion. Bea was committed to her faith and her God, attending Evangelistic Tabernacle and Grandview Calvary Baptist in Vancouver, and Prairie Chapel in Abbotsford. She is survived by two sons; Stephen in Vancouver, and Kenneth (Arlene) of Abbotsford, three grandchildren; Meagan, Case, and Braeden, a sister; Myrtle of Alberta, a cousin; Raymond of Regina, nieces and nephews, including family in England.

Memorial to be held 11:00 am April 27 at Prairie Chapel, 1929 Interprovincial Highway, Abbotsford, 604-854-6111. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the MS Society.
