September 21, 1962 – November 2, 2020
Brent died peacefully at home, after a short but scrappy battle with cancer.
Predeceased by his father Frank, mother Eileen, sister Joye and nephew Mitchell.
Forever missed by his wife, Jane, sons Robert (Shannon and grandson Clark), Jesse (Page) and Shane (Crystal), brothers Tom (Linda) and Kevin, sisters Kim and Donalda (Richard), in-laws Peter, Rose and Michael, nieces, nephews and huge extended family, and many friends from childhood, years of coaching, teammates from Tri-City Masters and his working career.
Born in Nova Scotia, he lived in the historic community of Boutiliers Point until age 5 when his parents, Frank ‘Jesse’ and Eileen Boutilier moved to East Vancouver where he would spend many wild and happy years, before moving to the country (Surrey), when he was 15.
Still a teenager when his dad died, he took seriously the role of man of the house in supporting his mom and younger siblings Kevin and Kim.
When he met Jane, their destinies were sealed. Driven to do well by his young family Brent worked F/T and attended BCIT P/T. His hard work turned into a long and successful career in steel and manufacturing. Known for his integrity, he was a master salesman and shrewd negotiator who always sought to create value for customers.
As his sons grew, Brent was drawn to volunteering and spent many happy years coaching soccer and lacrosse. He especially loved field lacrosse and had a lot of great times playing with the Tri-City Masters and Antikis field lacrosse clubs.
Brent enjoyed acting and was in several productions at Opening Nite Theatre and All Saints Anglican Church in Mission. A wicked sense of humour and booming laugh were his trademarks, but the wild and carefree way was balanced by humility and a sincere, soulful nature.
Brent was happiest when Jane, his boys and all the family were gathered, and laughter filled the room. We will miss his jokes, his laugh, his willing hands, his big heart and random pearls of wisdom.
