We are sad to announce that our beloved Dad, Papa, Husband, Brother and Friend Bruce James
Middlemass, passed away on July 12 at home surrounded by his family. Bruce is predeceased by his mother (Freda), father (Tom), and father-in-law (Dieter). He leaves behind his wife Elena, daughters Stacia (Jas), Heather (Zac), Holly (Theo), sister Tammy (Barry), brother John (Kareth), and his granddaughters Berlynn and Norah who were his greatest source of joy. He leaves behind his nephews Cameron, Thomas and Adam. He also leaves behind many more, too numerous to mention.
Bruce had a wicked sense of humour, a love for good music, and the ability to build and fix anything - all of which he passed on to his daughters. He was loved by everyone he met, and was kind to all that crossed his path.
For 10 very long years with multiple cancers, Bruce fought hard to stay with us and watch his family grow. We enjoyed every moment we had with him.
We would like to thank Dr. Maryse Power for her unfailing support on this journey. We would also like to thank Dr. Collingridge, all the various teams at VGH (especially BMT Daycare), ARHCC, RCH, RMH, particularly the ICU, and finally those who helped us bring him home.
In lieu of flowers, we ask that you consider registering as a bone marrow donor, donating blood, and/or writing to your local MLA about the gaps in the healthcare system.
A celebration of life will be held on August 25th, at a location TBD in Maple Ridge.
