Christena Aicken departed her earthly life November 27, 2005 at Mission Memorial Hospital. She was born 1915 in Ashern, Manitoba to Samuel and Evelyn (Hart) Jones, and then raised in Whonnock, BC with her siblings, Enoch (deceased), Allan (deceased), Audrey (Frank) Aicken, Donald (deceased) and Mabel (Ken, deceased) Darke. As a long time resident of Ruskin, BC, she was the beloved wife of John who predeceased her in 1986. Christena was the loving mother of the Rev. Dr. Allen (Jean Davidson) of Maple Ridge, BC; Marilyn (Rev. Dr. Kenneth) MacLeod of Antigonish, NS; and Rev. Tom (Marion) of Langley, BC. She was the proud grandmother of Alexandra (Geoff) Sowrey; Nicole Aicken; Iain MacLeod; Andrew MacLeod; Sheryl MacLeod (deceased); Shannon Aicken; and John Aicken; the beloved aunt of Rev. Dennis, Rev. Gary, Paul, Ruth, Betty, Linda (deceased), Donna, and their families. In her final days Christena was surrounded by the love and support of a host of family and friends. Christena, a woman of strong faith, had a gentle, loving spirit that reached out to others. She will be missed.
A Memorial Service to celebrate Christena’s life will be held on Thursday, December 1, 2005 at 1:00 pm at St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church, 8469 Cedar Street, Mission, BC with a reception to follow. A private burial service will take place. Memorial donations may be made to St. Paul’s Building Fund or a charity of your choice.
