STRAKON; Claire

February 28, 1949 ~ February 16, 2016

It is with great sorrow that we announce Claire's battle with cancer has come to an end. Our loving wife and mother passed away peacefully, surrounded by love on February 16, 2016. She was one of 8 siblings born in Tisdale, Saskatchewan but has been living in the Fraser Valley for over 50 years. She is survived by her loving husband, Dennis, two sons, Lawrence Kimber (Jessica) and Troy Kimber (Lianna), her four grandchildren, seven siblings and many nieces and nephews. Claire was always working to improve her lot in life and as a result of her ambition, achieved many skills throughout her life. Among them was her amazing talent as an artist in needlepoint. Those who have received some of her pieces count themselves lucky. She was an accomplished martial artist and one of the first female pilots in the Fraser Valley. She was a constant volunteer in various groups and organizations. Always working to lessen the suffering of others. Her strengths, courage and determination, in fighting her battle, should be an inspiration to us all. Right up to the very end she blessed us with the joy and grace of her extraordinary spirit. She will be profoundly missed by those of us who loved and cherished her. We extend our heartfelt thanks to all her friends and family that supported and loved her through the years. In particular we would like to thank Dr. Gurjal, Dr. Cook and the staff at the Abbotsford Cancer Clinic, and the staff in Cheam Palliative Care who gave her exceptional care during her battle. They treated not only her body, but her spirit with dignity, care and compassion. Not a word was left unsaid, not a feeling unexpressed. She can now rest peacefully knowing she was loved.
