Darlene Mona McKimmon passed away peacefully surrounded by family on December 19, 2006 at Pleasant View Care Home in Mission, BC. Darlene was born September 23, 1925 in Nanaimo, BC and became a long time resident of Deroche, BC, living on the family farm since 1947. She was predeceased by her husband of 51 years, Ewen, in 1997, her parents James and Elizabeth Harkies and all nine siblings James, Marguerite, George, Fred (Kay), Harold, Beth, Milton, Lloyd and William. Darlene was a loving mother to her children Marilyn (Les) Johnson, Mildred (Don) Richter, Lloyd (Doreen) McKimmon, Vicki (Leo) Sheen, Beth McKimmon (Normand Dunberry), Wes (Barb) McKimmon, Tracy (Ron) Wernicke and Shelley (Ron) Mayert. She will be sadly missed by her 18 grandchildren Sherry, Wendy, Philip, Tara, Andrew, Aaron, Luke, Erica, Katherine, Addy, Scott, Mitchell, Jody, Ryan, Danica, Madison, Cole and Blake. Also her 8 great-grandchildren Marshall, Cody, Shaelyn, Kirsten, Colby, Natalie, Kennedy and Fraser. Darlene is also survived by her sisters-in-law Peggy Harkies, Clarinda Harkies, Gertie Harkies and Sarah Suttles and brothers-in-law Stan (Marge) McKimmon and Bill Mattix, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
All are welcome to attend a Graveside Service on Saturday, December 23, 2006 at 10:00 am at Hatzic Cemetery with a Memorial Service to follow at 11:30 am at St. Andrews United Church, 7756 Grand Street, Mission, BC.
A special thank you to the staff and volunteers at Pleasant View Care Home for their loving care and attention to mom over her last 6 months.
