BOWEN, Colonel Lionel David. In loving memory, Colonel Lionel David Bowen, beloved and cherished husband of June L. Bowen, passed peacefully July 1, 2014 without pain or suffering at Royal Columbian Hospital in New Westminster, BC after undergoing surgery to repair a courageous but failing heart. David faced adversity with dignity, composure and confidence. He will be dearly missed by his many friends and extended family and acquaintances whose lives he enriched and by his devoted wife who has lost the love of her life. David embraced life and took pleasure in spending his best years with his loving partner of ten years, a kindred spirit, his best friend and soul mate. Like two peas in a pod, David truly believed the stuff of life was to love someone and have that love returned. Born May 01, 1929, a kind and gentle soul, David's career spanned a period of over 50 years, a pilot with the RCAF for 20 years, a commercial pilot for 13 years, with Search & Rescue on the West coast for 8 ½ years, a Teacher, Counselor, Painter and Artist. David was also a lifetime member of U.B.C. Alumni Association and the Society of Marine Artists, U.S.A. A Korean War Veteran, a commemoration dedicated to honor David's service and other War Veterans can be visited at www.thememoryproject.com. A small family service has been held and a celebration of David's life will take place in the fall. Condolences and memories may be forwarded to pilot6104@telus.net.

My sweet David, a final farewell, my darling. I will hold you forever in my heart and never ever let you go.

Rest in Peace David
