KROEKER, David
David Kroeker passed into the presence of his beloved Lord and Saviour on April 28th, 2013 in Abbotsford B.C. He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Marilyn, his 4 children: Vance (Deborah), Brian (Mary), Becky (Joseph) and Colin (Jody) as well as 10 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren,5 siblings and numerous nieces and nephews. Dave was born in Saskatchewan in 1931 and moved to BC as a young man. Here he met his sweetheart Marilyn and they were wed in 1957. Dave worked several jobs before following his true calling to become a Pastor. He attended Trinity Western College and Miller Memorial Bible Institute and became a church-planter for the Evangelical Free Church of Canada. With God's grace and help he pastored a small church in Blue River, BC before planting and building a new church in Ashcroft, BC. He remained as the pastor in Ashcroft for 9 years. Following a serious brain injury, Dave retired from pastoring and moved with his family to Abbotsford where he worked part time at Trinity Western University for 12 years.
In 1991 Dave and Marilyn retired to the Okanagan where Dave loved to be in his workshop creating lasting treasures for his family and friends. He took great pride in all he did. In 1999, Dave and Marilyn returned to the Fraser Valley, living 5 years in Agassiz and then finally back to Abbotsford. Dave was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and loved nothing more than being with his family. He was also devoted to his Heavenly Father and spent many hours reading scripture and praying for his loved ones. All who knew him spoke of his tremendous kindness, his gentle spirit, his loving heart and his big strong hands. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends but it is with a peace that passes understanding that we can smile knowing that he is with his Lord. We look forward to being with him again one day. As a family, we want to extend our sincere thanks to the incredible ICU staff at Abbotsford Regional Hospital as well as to Dr. Ken Dueck for his faithful and compassionate care. A Memorial Service for Dave will be held on May 6th at 2:30pm at Heritage Alliance Church on Mt. Lehman Road in Abbotsford.
