David Carl Sandberg

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of David Carl Sandberg on November 27, 2014 at his home in Courtenay, BC. Dave was born in Brockington, Saskatchewan to Rudolf and Minnie, the youngest of 7 children. As a young man Dave joined the Airforce at the age of 18 years and he was stationed in Comox and Holbert. This is when Dave fell in love with the west coast. After his release from the service Dave worked on the DEW line as a radar tech and then with BC Tel until his retirement. As a snowbird from Mission City they travelled south annually for ten years then in 2002 he moved to the Comox Valley with his wife Gloria. Best described by his nieces and nephews as written by Eloise “Golfer, curler, competitor, card games, wicked laugh, intelligent, reflective, commanding presence, stubborn, camping, Reno, Cloverdale, summer spiels, Legion, meat draws, solitaire, jugs of beer, horseradish, trophies, cautious, innovative, reserved, well read, dancer, Ford Worlds, Scottie, Flloyd’s Diner, chair sun tanning (one beer at a time), Holy Smoke Tavern and pool shark…”. Dave is survived by his wife of 50 years Gloria and his son Carl (Barb) of Victoria, one sister Marie in Alberta, brother- n-law Bill in Alberta and sister-in-law Crystal in Saskatchewan, along with many nieces and nephews. There will be no service and flowers gratefully declined. Donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of BC and Yukon or the BC Cancer Foundation. Loved and always in our hearts.
