Dennis Derrough

October 16, 1940 - August 22, 2019
It is with great sadness, the Derrough family announce the passing of Dennis on August 22, 2019, at the age of 78. After graduation, Dennis worked for Overwaitea Foods for a year, before his father asked him if he would like to join him in partnership at Pioneer Garage, where he remained for the next 43 years. He was a member of the Kinsmen, Fraser Valley Automobile Dealers Association, Mission Hospital Board, Mission Community Foundation, and volunteered for ten years at Pleasant View Care Home.
He is survived by his loving wife Joan of 57 years, his daughter Tracey, sons Tim and Jamie, granddaughters Justine (Matt) Linn, Katie (Kyle Vavra) Grabinsky, their father Dave Grabinsky, great grandson Kesler Linn, great granddaughter Jaden Linn, many cousins and friends whom he loved dearly. He is predeceased by his mother Velma (1991) and father Tom (1999). Dennis was honored with Freeman of the City in 2010, for which he was so proud and grateful to accept. He loved his community Mission, he loved his country, he loved his friends, but most of all he loved his family.
The family asks that you wear something blue, his favorite colour, or any bright colour you choose to his Service of Remembrance, to be held at 11:00 am on September 28, 2019 at the Northview Community Church located at 33507 Dewdney Trunk Road, Mission, BC. In lieu of flowers, if you wish, please donate to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Canadian Cancer Society, SAINTS Animal Rescue, or any other charity of your choice. We also ask that you support your community and get to know your neighbors as Dennis did.
