FISHER; Donald Thorp

October 11, 1940 ~ January 28, 2016

Don was born in Lethbridge, Alberta on October 11, 1940 and spent the majority of his formative years in the Vancouver area. He married his wife Ramona in 1965 and together they had a son, Ken, in 1970 and a daughter, Sharon (Shari), in 1981. He worked at Ellett Industries in Port Coquitlam for the majority of his adult life, until he retired in 2006. In 1989 he and his family moved to the McConnell Creek area of Mission where he soon became deeply involved in the community. As a skilled Millwright maintenance guy and all-around Jack-Of-All-Trades, he was always helping a neighbor with something when he wasn’t busy with his family. He is survived by his wife Ramona, son Ken, daughter Shari, grandsons Michael and Johnny, his sister Eleanor and brother Rob, as well as daughter-in-law Kelly and several nieces and nephews. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him, whether they knew him all their lives or for just a brief moment. He was the kind of guy who was instantly remembered for his warm smile, friendly attitude and willingness to help others. A small memorial service will be held for family and friends to celebrate his life on Saturday, February 27th at 2:00 pm. It will be held at The Residence in Mission (7324 Hurd St., located near the rear of Mission Memorial Hospital). Please come share your stories and help us honour the memories of an unforgettable husband, father, brother and friend.
