With sadness, the family of Donald Lobb, announces his very peaceful passing on Monday, Feb. 21, 2022, Family Day. Family was everything to him, such a fitting day for him to set off on his next adventure. He was 95 and proud of every year. His was a life well lived.
Don is survived by his bride of 73 years, Eleanor, who he met in California and then drove to Worcester, Massachusetts in 1948 to bring her back to Mission to marry and raise their family. He is survived by daughters Christine and Susan (Terry) and son Russell (Grace), grandchildren Stephen, Tyler, Allee, Taryn, Jason and Steven, 5 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Don was predeceased by his parents Warner and Beth, 2 sons Calvin and Clinton and sisters Dorothy and Mildred.
Don was well known for his operation of cedar shake and shingle mills for more than 40 years. Upon retirement he and Eleanor motor-homed all over Canada and the western States.
Don was a very community minded man threw his heart and soul into the Mission Association for Senior Housing (MASH), the Sunrise Rotary Club and Ducks Unlimited. In 2006, Don was made Freeman of the City for his service to Mission. He was a devoted member of the Cedar Valley Church.
Don was happiest when he was at "the Ranch" the family property at 70 Mile House with his family and friends. He loved to hunt, fish, snowmobile, ATV, trapshoot and play cribbage. He liked to tell jokes and used his "License to Bullshit" liberally.
There are no plans for a service at this time. Raise a glass for Don and call pull. He would like that. Don's final resting place will be at the Ranch.
