HARGREAVES Douglas H. Born in Winnipeg, MB on June 5, 1925, died peacefully in his sleep in Abbotsford, BC on Friday, September 16, 2011. His passing will be mourned by his loving wife Winnifred of 63 years and two sons, John (June) of Tucson, AZ and Dene (Kathy) of Okotokes, AB. He will also be remembered and missed by 7 grand-children and 8 great grand children, and by everyone who knew him. Doug served his country during World War Two with the RAF, completing thirty-five bombing missions over Germany. After the war he met and married the love of his life, Winnifred while working for the Hudson's Bay Company in Lac La Ronge, SK. Doug spent most of his working life with the Hudson's Bay in Calgary, where he was Services Manager. While living in Calgary, he was very active in his church, the Boy Scouts of Canada, boating and music. He loved the outdoors and spent most of his weekends camping and hiking in the foothills of the Rockies. In 1988 Doug and Winnifred retired and moved to Abbotsford, BC where he continued to persue his interest in sailing and music. A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at Sheppard of the Valley Lutheran Church, 20097 - 72 Ave., Langley, BC, Thursday, October 6, 2011 at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers a donation may be made to the Sheppard of the Valley Lutheran Church or the BC Heart and Stroke Foundation.
