Edward James Millar passed away suddenly at MSA Hospital in Abbotsford on Wednesday, March 8, 2006 at the age of 84 years.  Ed (Ted) was born in Vancouver in 1921 where he lived with his grandmother, mother Gladys and sisters Pat and Hilda.  As a boy, he was active in sports and in the Boy Scouts.  At the age of 20, he was proud and honoured to serve in the II World War with the Canadian Expeditionary Force in the 29th Amoured Battalion in France.  After being wounded and spending time in hospital in Bournemouth, England, Ed returned home to Vancouver. Here he found employment at Boyle Bros’ Machine Shop.  Here he met Anne Draginda and her two children, Lynne and John.  Anne and Ed were married and moved to Burnaby where their two sons, Timothy and Andrew were born.  As a father, Ed devoted his time to his children and became very active again in the Boy Scout movement, this time as a leader.  He worked as foreman for Ray Adam’s Machine Shop in New Westminster and later, for Williams and White Machine Shop in Burnaby.  Ed’s wife Anne deceased in l986 and four years later he bought a condo in Abbotsford.  Here he met his loving companion, Lorraine and spent many happy hours with her and her family, sons Craig and Dave and daughters Wendy and Carol Anne and their children.  Ed and Lorraine spent time together at Cultus Lake and traveled to Alaska, Hawaii and Mexico.  Ed held the position of council chairman for Carlisle condominium for a number of year and was greatly respected for his hard work and dedication.  Ed will be remembered for his friendly, outgoing and kind manner, his devotion to his family and friends and his deeply spiritual beliefs. All who knew him extend a very sad farewell.

Ed was predeceased by wife Anne, mother Gladys, sisters Hilda and Pat and son John.  He is survived by daughter Lynne Fitzgerald (Ralph) of Calgary; sons Tim Mllar (Jayne) and Andrew Millar (Tammy)  of New Westminster and by

daughter-in-law, Lorna McGeachy of Victoria.  He was much loved and will be greatly missed by grandchildren, Colin Fitzgerald (Anne) of Calgary, Andrea Cross (Jamie) and their family in Ormskirk, England, Terri Burstow of North Vancouver, Mary, Sara and Amy McGeachy of Victoria, Celidh and Tristan Millar of New Westminster, Melissa and Jeremy Millar of Kelowna and Aharon Millar of New Westminster.

A celebration of Ed’s life will be held at The Carlisle, 33030 George Ferguson Way on March 18, 2006 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm.
