It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Erich, after his courageous battle with cancer.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Sonja; his daughter Miriam (Seiji); his son Thomas (Natasha); siblings; Walter (Erika), Anton (Elisabeth), Ursula (Hans), Marlies as well as extended family and many friends.

Erich was born in Switzerland and raised in Gsteigwiler by his grandmother. He had a resilient spirit overcoming great adversities. As an avid outdoorsman he spent his youth mountain climbing, was a member of the Breitlauenen ski club and thoroughly enjoyed photography.

In 1979 he immigrated to Canada where he fell in love with the Canadian wilderness, taking his family and friends on fishing and camping trips at every opportunity. Having a green thumb he enjoyed gardening and prided himself with his cooking, preparing exquisite meals for loved ones. He had an appreciation for a good cup of coffee and enjoyed feeding and watching the local birds.

Erich was a meticulous handyman and worked as an engineer in the pulp and paper industry for nearly 40 years specializing in control systems. His work took him millions of miles around the world.

He was a loving Dad and a devoted husband. His passing is a tremendous loss and he will be missed immensely.

A Celebration of life will be held in Graz, Austria at a later date. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Canada.
