In loving memory ~
On February 4, 2025, Erik Peter Hildegard Timmermans passed into God's glory and grace with his brother Case Timmermans. The two went to Grace Lake to enjoy an afternoon of ice fishing together when the ice suddenly gave way beneath them.
Erik immigrated to Canada from Alblasserdam, the Netherlands in 1981 at age 21 to help Case build the Timmermans Landscaping business. Erik was loved and known as a leader for his gentleness, his encouragement, his joyful curiosity, his infectious smile, and above all, his undying love for Jesus Christ.
Erik is survived by his wife Sandy, who he met and married in Abbotsford, Canada, his two daughters, Nancy (Matthew) and Cobi, Case's wife and children, six remaining brothers and sisters who reside in the Netherlands with their families, and a large extended family. Erik was adventurous, and loved to travel with friends and family, not just to sightsee in new places or visit his hometown, but to connect with people and share God's love in his own, personable way.
The impact that his bright spirit had globally is truly immeasurable, and he will be deeply missed by many. A joint viewing with his brother Case will be held on February 20th from 9:00am-12:00pm at Henderson's Fraser Valley Funeral Home, 34537 Marshall Road Abbotsford. Erik's celebration of life will be held on Saturday February 22, 2025 at 2:00pm from New Life Christian Reformed Church, 35270 Delair Rd, Abbotsford, BC with an open casket viewing available from 12:30-1:30pm. All are welcome to attend.
