Evelyn May Ellen Dvorak of Mission passed away in the Abbotsford Hospital on April 21, 2011 after suffering a stroke. She was born in Luseland Saskatchewan to Arthur and Matilda Peterson, nee Sittig. Fourth of eight siblings she attended school in Luseland and in 1935 married a local farmer and grain elevator manager, Frank Dvorak. They had three sons: Frank Arthur married to Vivien, nee Wallen, Lloyd Scott and Leslie Allan. Lloyd predeceased her in 1963. She worked for the Canadian Postal Service for many years, first as postmistress at Lake Errock where she and Frank owned a Shell gas station and country store. She later worked at the post office in Mission from which she retired in the early seventies. She played the piano in a local band for over thirty years. She and her husband of 52 years enjoyed traveling in their motor home and made many trips to the states, Alaska and the NWT. Her husband predeceased her in 1987, and subsequent to his death she traveled extensively around the world by air and freighter. Active until her death at 94, she leaves sons Frank Dvorak of Bellevue, WA, and Leslie Dvorak of Vancouver, along with her two brothers, Arthur Peterson of Squammish and Bernard Peterson of Stony Plains, Alberta. She also leaves numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at the Carrington House, 32700 7th Ave. Mission BC V2V 7P3 on May 2nd at 2PM.
