SLEIGH; Francis John

Francis (sometimes known as Frank) was born in London, and grew up in Worcester Park, Surrey, England. During WW2 he served in the Fleet Air Arm for three years. A talented artist, he then became a qualified architect. He married Daphne Swan in 1950 and they emigrated to Canada in 1957. After six years in North Vancouver they opted for the rural life, living first in Maple Ridge and later in Deroche. Francis had a keen interest in history and civic affairs. He served a term on Mission Council and ten years as director for Lake Errock. He held office in various historical associations, and after retirement was a prominent spokesperson for seniors' issues. He passed away in the Mission Hospital just short of his 90th birthday. A private interment in the Hatzic Cemetery.
