Freda Alstad passed away in Chilliwack on December 4, 2005 at the age of 80 years. She was born in Durham, England on April 19, 1925.
Freda is survived by her husband, Emery of 58 years and their children: Daryl (Ellen) of Abbotsford, Faron (Trish) of Chilliwack; grandchildren: Alicia, Bryanna, Travis, Nathan, nieces; Sharon, Patsy and nephew Ron and cousin Helen. She was predeceased by her sister Rose.
Freda was raised on a farm in Saskatchewan by her aunt and uncle. She moved from Saskatchewan to Mission in 1947 and lived there for over 40 years. Freda and Emery then retired to Hornby Island where they lived until returning to the Fraser Valley in 2002. Freda was a life-long lover of music and animals. She wrote many songs over the years.
A memorial will be held at the Gladwin Heights United Church in Abbotsford on December 21, 2005 at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the SPCA or charity of your choice.
