YAWRENKO, George

George Yawrenko passed away on December 12th, 2014 at Abbotsford Regional Hospital. He was born on March 23, 1927 in the North End of Winnipeg, Manitoba. Predeceased by his brother Nick, sister Elsie, and first wife Mary. George is survived by his wife of 28 years Leslie; daughter Roselle (Marv), son Adam (Barb), step-son John, and son-in-law Henry; grandchildren Ryan (Tina), Ashley (Alex), Lindsay (Thea),
and Shaun; great-grandchildren Braiden, Mason, Austin, Dylan, Lilyanna, Oliver, Hailey and Jase; other relatives & friends. George worked for BC Tel for 37 1/2 years, where he served the last 15 years of his career as vice-president of the Telecommunications Workers Union. George was a proud union man and worked tirelessly for the rights of the workers he represented. He enjoyed his retirement, and was kept young at heart by his grandchildren and great-grandchildren who he loved dearly. A memorial service is planned for January 5th, 2015 at 1 pm at First Memorial Funeral Home, 27555 - 31st Ave, Aldergrove, BC.
