Dad passed away peacefully on Tuesday evening, December 20, 2016. He was born August 4, 1933 in Rotterdam, Holland, the second youngest of seven children. The family immigrated to Canada where later he met and married Anne, the love of his life. She passed away in 2008 after 53 years of marriage and life after that was never the same for Dad. Gerry was a carpenter by trade but his real passion was in sales. He sold agricultural related products and loved just talking and interacting with people. He is survived by his daughters Ruth, Caroline, and Carmen, son Frank and predeceased daughter Melanie (December 15, 2016). Also survived by many grandchildren and great grandchildren and three siblings. Dad will remain in our hearts forever and we can carry on knowing that he is at peace now in heaven with his Lord and Saviour and with Mom whom he missed so much. As a family, we send a special thanks to the staff at Menno Hospital West 2 for the compassion and care that they gave Dad and us during his time there. The Funeral Service will be at 1:00 pm on January 3rd, 2017 at Immanuel Covenant Reformed Church, 35063 Page Road, Abbotsford. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society.
