Glenn MATHESON

July 13, 2006

It is with great sadness to announce the passing of my father Glenn on July 13, 2006 at Kamloops, BC after a brief illness. He was born August 10, 1928, in Portreeve, Sask. He lived in this small town with his parents and brother Allan until 1942 when they moved to Richmond, BC. He attended Richmond and Magee High Schools. Dad entered UBC in 1946 and graduated in 1950 with Bachelor of Science - Agriculture and a Bachelor of Education.  He took a teaching position in Mission City and met and married his wife Patricia Gosnell. They had three children Ron, Carol and Doug. While in Vancouver Dad played Jr.  and Sr. Baseball and also received a "Big Block" for pitching at UBC. He played baseball for many years in the Fraser Valley League. The family moved to Kamloops in 1964 where Dad taught Math at John Peterson for 22 years. Dad enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing, coaching baseball and of course meeting his dear friends for a "cold one." You could always find dad in the stands at the KIBIT Tournaments.

Glenn was predeceased by his wife Patricia in 2003, his son Doug in 1980, his  son Ron in 1988. Leaving behind daughter Carol Matheson and numerous friends throughout BC. I would like to thank Dr. Yanko for all the years of caring for our family and the staff at ICU, Royal Inland Hospital. Also a special thank you to my dear friends Barb Alonzo and Rose-Marie Afonso for staying with me during dad's final days and hours.

Should friends desire donations to the Kamloops Hospice Association, 72 Whiteshield Crescent, Kamloops, BC V2E 2S9 in memory of Glenn would be appreciated. Cremation arrangements are entrusted to Schoening Funeral Service, Kamloops, B.C. telephone 250-374-1454.
