Gordon Thomas HODGSON

September 4, 2006

(Dec. 18, 1926 – Sept. 4, 2006)

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle on September 4, 2006 at the age of 79. He will be greatly missed by his wife of 23 years Patricia, his step-daughter Judy (Tim) Irwin, precious granddaughters Blythe and Brynn lrwin, sisters Fern (Glen) Jensen and Maxine Jensen; sister-in-law Barbara (Ernie) Grieder, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Melba Whitehead, and brothers-in-law George Whitehead and Bert Jensen.

Gordon was born in Longview, Washington and was raised in Tabor, Alberta. He served in the Royal Canadian Navy for 16 years, traveling the world, before he was honourably released in June 1960 as a Lieutenant-Commander. He later became a Chartered Accountant and worked for various firms. His position with the Department of Indian Affairs brought him to Winnipeg, Manitoba where he met and married Patricia (Baker) in 1983. He retired in 1988 and moved to Abbotsford, BC in 1989.

Gordon's hobbies included golf, reading, crossword puzzles, Tai Chi and playing cards, especially bridge. He was very active in the Central Fraser Valley Branch of FSNA and past president of Fircrest Estates council. He so enjoyed coffee, chocolate and his computer.

The family wish to thank Dr. Parkin for his care over the years and the Nursing staff at MSA Hospital 2 West.

A celebration of Gordon's life will be held at 2:30 pm on Saturday, Sept. 9 at Woodlawn Funeral Home, 2310 Clearbrook Road, Abbotsford. A reception will follow at the Fircrest Clubhouse, 32718 Garibaldi Dr., Abbotsford.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
